Karlstein am Main, Germany, September 5th, 2023 – BMZ Group, a global specialist in lithium-ion batteries, is pleased to announce the latest milestone in the corporation’s global expansion plans: BMZ is about to found its fith global production site in North Macedonia.
During an official signing ceremony on September 4th, 2023 at the BMZ Headquarters in Karlstein, Germany, representatives of the Government of North Macedonia and BMZ signed a contract about BMZ’s expansion plans and the country’s commitment to offer economic subsidies.
BMZ will get started within a rented building in the area of the metropolis of Skopje but at the same time already start building a greenfield investment in the Technologigal Industrial Development Zone “Skopje 2”. A long-term business plan till end of 2028 provides for having up and running 3 units comparable to the BMZ units at their German Headquarters including Logistics and Administration hosting 60 production lines and granting more than 600 new jobs to the economically strongly boosting country. BMZ already starts hiring for diverse positions and is especially looking for experienced operational staff and specialists with background knowledge and experience in the following areas: Process, Industrialization, Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
BMZ introduced Jelica Ivanovska as General Manager of BMZ North Macedonia. Jelica is business professional, with 20 years of experience in the area of General Management, Operations as well as People and Organizational Development in big multinational companies operating in various industries, among which most extensive in Automotive and FMCG industry. She brings along expertise in setting-up greenfield operations on the North Macedonian market, stabilizing and optimizing processes, business mergers and aquisitions as well as creating and implementing business strategies. Jelica already worked for well renown international companies like Johnson Controls, Visteon Electronics, Coca Cola and Heineken.
The decision of setting up a new production facility in North Macedonia was driven by BMZ’s tremendous opportunities of growth and the shortage of skilled workers in Germany as well as in Poland. In its business plan BMZ plans to invest in both new lines, as well as relocate production lines from their facilities in Germany and Poland to North Macedonia with various automation level. BMZ emphasizes that no job cuts are planned in Germany or Poland in connection with this step. On the contrary, further growth is even planned at these locations. The corporation has chosen North Macedonia as location for its fifth production site since the country is well-renowned for its investor-friendly policy.
